CHA Instructor Certification
(Certified Horsemanship Association)
The CHA clinic (Certified Horsemanship Association) is a clinic process to certify riding instructors for group riding lessons. This organization has been in operation for 40 years, training and certifying instructors in both English and Western disciplines from the US, Canada and now world-wide.
This clinic is an excellent way to prepare you and your staff for the upcoming season. You will find that being certified will improve your horse program dramatically by teaching you to become more efficient in safety procedures, education and enjoyment of your students. It also may be beneficial for insurance reasons. This 5 day clinic tests and evaluates clinic participants on their Safety, Horsemanship, Teaching Skills, Group Control & Professionalism in a lesson situation. The intent of this clinic is to certify you usign much of the knowledge you already possess. Over the course of the 5 days, you will definitely gain more skills and knowledge about horses. Certification can range from Assistant Instructor to Master Instructor (Level 4 in both English and Western). You can be certified in both or either seats.
Join us for a fun and worthwhile weekend! Any age and level of experience can participate. Participants must be at least 16 yrs. old to be certified as an Assistant Instructor and at least 18 yrs. old to be certified as an Instructor. Clinicians must have sufficient experience with horses and people to assume responsibility for the safety and well being of groups of less experienced riders. They must have strong organizational skills and communicate clearly. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to catch, lead, groom, tack, handle horses, mount, dismount, ride at walk, trot and canter/lope with good form and control in a group. You must be able to ride at least one level above what you'd like to be certified for. If you would like to join us as an Auditor, that is also an option.
